Singer Abhijeet is the latest craze among the students'' community of the city. Or so it would seem from the series of shows that he has up his sleeves. Out of the four performances that the ''Ole! Ole!'' man has put up in Kolkata this time, three are for annual college fests.
"I like these shows because of the enthusiasm that the students show. They dance in a frenzy, pumping up my energy levels in the process," Abhijeet said sitting in his hotel room.
Actually, this man always grabs the slightest opportunity to be in the city. And even though he is successfully churning out hit numbers for Hindi films, he prefers to talk about his own album Tere Bin.
"That is the biggest hit of my career, I rate it higher than Chalte Chalte or Yes Boss," he said. The fact that he came up with the album independently and that it has maintained a steady popularity among music listeners across the country brings him a sense of pride.
And while talking about his own pop album, he started lambasting other pop artistes saying, "Those who have not found occupation anywhere else call themselves pop artistes."
Efforts to point out that this might make many people in his own circuit unhappy is met with, "I''m expressing my personal view, whether you want to write about it or not is upto you."
And even when the shows keep him busy, he usually hates missing a chance to feast on puchka from a vendor in front of Vardaan Market. "I always find a way to do that, even if I have to hide inside my car and have it," he said.
